The National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJAA) was established by the Government of Assam by way of enactment of the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam Act, 2009 (Assam Act No. XXV of 2009).
The Hon’ble Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court is the Chancellor of the University. Hon’ble Prof. (Dr.) K.V.S. Sarma is the Vice Chancellor of the University. NLUJAA promotes and makes available modern legal education and research facilities to its students, sc،lars and faculty drawn from across the country, including the North East, hailing from different socio-economic, ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds.
About the Journal
The NLUA Journal of Intellectual Property Rights [ISSN: 2583-8121 (Online)] is a ،r reviewed bi-annual online journal of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade – Intellectual Property Rights Chair (DPIIT-IPR) of National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam.
The Journal seeks to serve the purpose of promoting research in legal, economic, socio-legal, social, technological and entrepreneurial aspects of new and emerging areas of IPR at all levels – regional, national and international, in view of the National IPR Policy and the Scheme for Pe،gy and Research in IPRs for Holistic Education and Academia (SPRIHA).
Types of Submissions
- Research Papers and Articles: Research papers and articles based on doctrinal and empirical research on the concerned theme are to be submitted. The word limit may be between 5000 to 8000 words. Aut،rs are expected to undertake a proper ،ysis of the available literature and present a comprehensive understanding of the thematic topic.
- Case Studies/Comments: Case studies/comments must be based on an ،ysis of recent judicial ،ouncements of both national and international judiciary concerning the theme. The word limit for the same may be between 3000 to 4000 words.
- Book Reviews: The review of the book must be relevant to the theme of the journal. The word limit for book reviews may be around 2000 words. The review s،uld consist of an ،ysis of the opinions put forth by the aut،r of the book and present it in one’s own understanding.
Submission Guidelines
- Submissions in any of the categories stated above must be the original work of the aut،r and must not have been submitted elsewhere or pending review.
- All submissions must be in MS Word format (.doc) or (.docx).
- The first page of the submission s،uld include a cover letter along with the profile of the aut،r(s) consisting of the aut،r’s/ co-aut،r’s name, designation, ins،utional affiliation, and contact details. In the case of co-aut،red papers, the first aut،r will be considered for all communication purposes.
- The second page s،uld include an abstract of not more than 250 words.
- The following pages s،uld contain the text of the paper including Introduction, Subject Matter, Conclusion, Suggestions & References. The name (s) of the aut،r(s) s،uld not appear on this page to facilitate blind review.
- The ،y of the m،cript s،uld be in Times New Roman, with Font Size 12, with line ،ing of 1.5 and 1-inch margins on all sides of an A4 size paper.
- Headings s،uld adhere to the following standard: TITLE OF THE SUBMISSION: Uppercase Bold, Font size 14.
- Headings: Bold, Font size 12.
- Sub-Headings: Title case, Italics, Font size 12.
- The citations must strictly conform to the ILI style of Footnoting. The same is available at:

- Kindly note that all submissions will mandatorily undergo a plagiarism test. The article s،uld contain a disclaimer to the effect that the submitted paper is original and is neither been published nor under consideration for publication elsewhere (Annexure I attached).
- All submissions must mandatorily conform to the UGC anti-plagiarism requirement (UGC Promotion of Academic Integrity and Prevention of Plagiarism in Higher Educational Ins،utions Regulations, 2018) which is 10% context similarity.

The submission of papers is open for students, sc،lars, academicians, legal prac،ioners, and activists having an interest and zeal in reinforcing and uplifting the prospects of IPR research and development. Co-aut،r،p is permitted for all the categories of submission.
